Ryan, 6 years old has received 29 medals all in all. 26 of which are gold. A very busy kid at that, he juggles Jiu-Jitsu, basketball, swimming lessons, music, and gymnastics.

“I love BJJ more than anything in the World, I love BJJ because I love the workout and BJJ is like chess, you have to plan your next move. All my friends that I do BJJ with me love BJJ, they tell me they love to roll with me, they say I make them much better, I don’t know how I keep up being so busy, I just love everything I do, and I’m so happy my Mommy & Daddy take me were ever I want to go,” Ryan says in an email.

It was such a pleasure to be able to correspond with Nikita Inger’s mom, Victoria Inger. The support is just astounding. She and her husband have long supported Nikita with his passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the lifestyle that comes within it.

“Nikita started BJJ before his 7th birthday. I pretty much just drove by and walked in and liked what I saw,” says Mrs. Inger.

According to Victoria, Nikita was your typical shy kid. Getting him into BJJ got Nikita more confidence. This kid being a beast in the mats trains about 6 times a week, for 2-3 hours.

“I love learning from my coaches and training partners. Jiu-jitsu has become my favorite sport. We found our gym by accident just driving by, I came for the 1st class and liked it and decided I wanted to be really good at jiu-jitsu. So I work really hard to learn new technique and skills every day. My Professor always says ‘No rest for the best!”, explains Nikita.

Nikita shares his views on getting more kids to Jiu-Jitsu. He says, “It can help anyone that is picked on or bullied by mean kids. They should come to Gracie Barra to learn how to protect themselves from bullies. It feels good to be strong and be able to protect yourself. Also you make great friends and it is fun! We train but also do fun stuff like play games and have pizza parties.”

While everybody has favorite submission, for him it’s the Americana that works for him best. Professor Juan Pablo taught me my favorite submission! “I like it because it has worked many times for me especially at tournaments,” he explains.

“I have made many friends, all the kids are great to train with. My favorite training partner is Nicholas (Spiderman), we learn so much from each other. We train very hard to try and get gold medals at tournaments. We also have lots of fun and be silly,” says Nikita.
